The first day of Athletics Best Talents Olympiad ended in girls’ side breaking two national youth records.

Tehran, Iran – As Athletics Federation of I.R. Iran reports, the first day of Athletics Best Talents Olympiad competitions in girls’ part was held with participation of 260 athletes from different cities of Iran at Tehran Aftab Enghelab Stadium. The competitions on the first day ended in two broken national youth records.

Zahra Keyhani of Hamedan won the title in 5000m race walking setting 38:50.53 and extended national youth record which was previously set by Samin Ahani with the time 46:17.40.

Seyed Fatemeh Sima Shadkam of Khorasan Razavi also claimed victory in 2000m Steeplechase and broke national youth record of the event clocking 7:36.23. This record belonged to Maryam Khoshtinat heretofore with the time 7:51.23.

The Athletics Best Talents Olympiad competitions officially commenced on Saturday through an opening ceremony with participation of President of Athletics Federation of Iran, Majid Keyhani, General Secretary, Hashem Siami, Vice President, Hamid Fardin Pour, Competitions Committee and Federation’s League Chairman, Abbas Fathi and Sports Ministry women’s deputy minister, Mrs. Fariba Mohammadian.
