Keyhani: We Predict to Earn Three Medals in Jakarta

“Iran Athletics National Team will earn three gold, silver and bronze medals or even more In Asian Games Jakarta 2018.” Majid Keyani, President of Iran Athletics Federation stated.

As Athletics Federation of I.R. Iran reports, Majid Keyhani, President of Iran Athletics Federation brought up on 2018 Jakarta Asian Games. “In a meeting with Sport Ministry we anticipated earning three gold, silver and bronze medals in the games. Yet, it should be mentioned that maybe the number of medals will be more.” He said.

“I believe that Iran Athletics National Team has never experienced this condition so far, athletes are encountering the organized and tip top conditions in this period of time.” He added. “Athletics is a record based sport, that’s why we will announce the entry records and the terms of obtaining Jakarta Asian Games records until the next Thursday. Any athlete who claims to participate in Jakarta Asian Games is bound to achieve the entry record to join the Athletics National Team. Of course there are some exceptions; for instance, if an athlete does not follow the rules of the Federation, he/she will be dropped despite winning the world championship. The athlete must work according to the Federations principals. Man or woman, any athletes who obtains the entry and follows the rules, will be in the list.” He confirmed.

“For the time being there are ten athletes in the list, although we consider to mount up this number to twelve. Additionally, in the long list we gave to the Olympic National Committee, sixteen athletes and members are allowed to be in the list. Henceforth, the exct number of the athletes will be announced later.” Keyhani added.

Keyhani responded to the question about Sepideh Tavakoli’s event in which will take part in Jakarta Asian Games. “It’s not determined yet; a record test must be done. Sepideh Tavakoli is one of the women athletes who has got the chance of earning medal in Jakarta Asian Games. Although we know her as the heptathlete, she is skilled in High Jump. If she participates in the Asian Games, she will compete in both heptathlon and high jump.”

“We have planning for local competitions. We have planned several leagues, for instance Golden League has been formed to fill the gaps among the leagues. Additionally, Pouya League and Pishtazan League are arranged for juniors to compete. In Pishtazan League the country is divided into six zones of five cities; athletes will compete in these zones, then the best ones will take part in final which will be held in one city. This will eventuate in a better planning.” Keyhani said on the plans and programs for the competitions in the New Year.

Majid Keyhani also said that training camp of the elite athletes are held opportunely. “As I said earlier, National Team has never experienced such satisfying conditions so far. Currently, our elite and eminent athletes like Ehsan Hadadi, Hasan Taftian and Keyvan Ghanbarzadeh are training under the guidance of the best coaches in the world and are on the up.”

“We have got the chance of bearing the flag in Jakarta Asian Games and we will do our best to make it happen. Iran Athletics National Team will earn three gold, silver and bronze medal in the Asian Games and maybe the number of the medals will be swelled.” Keyhani said at the end.
